What a shield

Shield in the architecture means the upper part of the front or facade , which closes the top of a gable roof or cover part and thus forms the attic. The shield has a triangular shape and is also color-coded. At home, this shield has an attic closure function. The roof can overlap the shield or, on the other hand, reach the roof of the house. Some historic houses have shields that make up a false floor. In the 19th century, the hut roofs prevailed, and the shields began to rush.
