To increase the comfort of swimming in outdoor swimming pools, it is advisable to make water heating, and for all year-round water heating is a must. What water heater in the pool should choose? Heat pump, heat exchanger or solar heating?

Heat pump function principle

Heat pumps take energy from the surrounding air, converting them into heat and subsequently heating the pool water. Although the heat pump has a high purchasing value, but with regard to current energy prices, it is worth investing in the long run. In addition, heat pumps are environmentally friendly. Heat pumps can also be retrofitted and can cool water in the pool during the summer months.

Heat exchanger

If we want to heat water in the pool with the help of existing heating in the house, we should expect sufficient power from the existing heat source. It can be an electric or gas boiler, but also a heating system for coal or wood. In these cases, it is necessary to look for solutions individually, also with regard to the amount of water in the pool. It is also necessary to take into account whether or not the pool is covered.

Solar heating

Principle of solar heating function. The solar panel absorbs thermal energy from solar radiation. Cold water is fed into the solar panel by a filter system pump where it gets warmer and warmer returns to the pool. This type of swimming pool water heating also needs to be designed individually. But it also depends on the flow rate of the water through the panel. A circulating pump is required for the correct operation of the solar heating system.

Solar sail

It is a polyethylene (PE) sheet which is either black or blue and has a bubble structure on the surface. It is bubbled into the water. The bubbles then act like a magnifying glass through which the sun rays heat the water outside the pool. In addition, the pool also prevents the evaporation of water and prevents the gradient of dirt.

Electrical heating

This type of water heating proved to be particularly useful for whirlpools and smaller pools. It requires a sufficient power supply (400V) and a 32A fuse.
